Michael J. Lipson OD, FAAO, FSLS, is an optometrist/assistant professor at University of Michigan Kellogg Eye Center, department of ophthalmology and visual science in the Northville location. Dr. Lipson’s clinical practice involves contact lenses with emphasis on specialty lenses. He has served as the vice president of the Scleral Lens Education Society and is a member of the GPLI Advisory Board. Dr. Lipson is a consultant to Bausch + Lomb’s Specialty Vision Products division and has received research support from Bausch + Lomb and Paragon Vision Sciences.
Considering myopia control
Why are we seeing higher incidence of myopia, higher degrees of myopia, and earlier age of diagnosis? Research into the answers to these questions has come up with a variety of influences, but because the changes have been observed over such a short time (25 to 30 years) genetics cannot be the only factor.
